A Letter From The President

On behalf of the Canton Akron Soccer Club Board of the Directors, I would like to welcome you all and hope you enjoy the 2017 Fall season.  There are a few CAK initiatives and updates to help improve your family’s experience.

Our future goals are the same as today. We want to focus on the soccer curriculum to prepare the kids to be critical thinkers and quick decision makers. We want our players getting the appropriate challenge. We want to continue to develop and promote our players from within. We want to continue to be a STABLE and TRUSTWORTHY program for you and your children for years to come!

New Website

A new web site will be launched to provide clear and timely information. It is still in the process of being updated and fine-tuned.

This change was made to provide our club with a single platform for our club website, team communication app and new club tournament.  With the implementation of the SportsEngine tools we expect to see a yearly reduction in our administration expenses.

New Team Communication App

In conjunction with the new website platform powered by SportsEngine, we will be replacing TeamSnap communication tool with the built in SportsEngine Mobile App.  SportsEngine is an easy-to-use app that will provide you access to your teams practice and game schedules, team rosters and allows for easy communication between team members and coaches.
Be on the lookout for an invitation soon – when you receive the invitation, please set up your account as soon as you can so you won’t miss any communications.

New Uniforms

January 1st, we are changing to a whole new uniform kit. All club members will be required to purchase a new uniform to meet the club’s requirements for participation. We expect the cost to be a little higher, but we believe this is essential to our goal of bringing a quality experience to you.

To help keep costs down as much as possible, we are exploring corporate sponsorship opportunities.

Keep an eye on our club Facebook page for the revealing of the new kit.

Note:  If you are interested in donating a used jersey or shorts from the current style uniform kit please contact the CAK administration staff at

Coaching Staff Additions

  • This fall we welcome Dan O'Callaghan to our Boys Premier coaching staff. Dan is a former collegiate player at Hiram College and has several years of club level coaching experience.
  • This winter we will welcome Josh Jones to our Girls Premier High School coaching staff.  Josh is the Head Women's Soccer Coach at Malone University and comes to us with a wealth of knowledge and experience coaching female players at the club and collegiate levels.  In addition to his coaching responsibilities Josh will become the Technical Director of the Girls Program.  In this role we expect Josh to develop clear philosophy and pathway to guide all of our female players

Canton Akron Cup

This fall we will host our inaugural Fall Soccer Tournament named Canton Akron Cup.  The tournament will be held on September 30th and October 1st in Jackson Township and will have various levels of play for boys and girls. There are plenty of volunteer and sponsorship opportunities available.  Please contact Steve Burgess at or Simon Warstler at if you’re interested in helping.

Lindsay’s Law

As you may have heard, there has been a new law passed, Lindsay’s Law, that require all youth athletes, parents/guardians, and coaches to complete a set of requirements prior to participating in any sports activity annually.

Lindsay’s Law, Ohio Revised Code 3313.5310, 3707.58 and 3707.59 went into effect on August 1, 2017.

In accordance with this law, the Ohio Department of Health, the Ohio Department of Education, the Ohio High School Athletic Association, the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Cardiology and other stakeholders jointly developed guidelines and other relevant materials to inform and educate students and youth athletes participating in or desiring to participate in an athletic activity, their parents, and their coaches about the nature and warning signs of sudden cardiac arrest.

At this time the clubs and leagues of Ohio North must have their members do the following:
